About the podcast

Irish whiskey stories, told honestly.

That’s the Spirit started the way most good things do: not with a business plan, but with a genuine passion that needed somewhere to go.

The idea is simple. Irish whiskey, Irish spirits, and the people behind them deserve to be talked about properly. Not in tasting notes and technical jargon, but just honestly. The way you’d talk about them over a glass with someone who actually knows.

That person is me, Niamh.

I grew up in Ireland, and whiskey has always been part of my world. But working behind bars, in places like Garavan’s on Shop Street in Galway and Sonny Molloy’s, is where I really started to understand it. Not from books, but from people. From the distillers, the ambassadors, and the brand reps who would come in and take the time to talk, explain, and share.

That world shaped me, and it’s the world this podcast brings you into.

Irish whiskey can feel intimidating from the outside, but it shouldn't. It’s one of the most approachable, interesting, and exciting spirit categories in the world right now, full of remarkable people doing remarkable things. Most of them just aren’t very loud about it.

That’s where I come in.

Every episode takes you somewhere new: a distillery, a story, or a person worth knowing. They are short enough to listen to on a commute or a walk, and real enough to actually mean something.

Whether you’ve been drinking Irish whiskey for years or you’re only starting to explore it, you’re in the right place.

Sláinte.
